SB 615     PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE I OF THE HAWAII  JDC
        CONSTITUTION, TO ADD A SECTION ON CRIME VICTIMS'
        RIGHTS
        Proposes an amendment to the State Constitution to
        give crime victims constitutionally recognized and
        protected rights.

SB 2142    RELATING TO RIGHTS OF VICTIMS AND WITNESSES IN     JDC
        CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS
        Amends the bill of rights for crime victims by
        amending the definition of "major developments" to
        include unfitness to stand trial, transfer to the
        state hospital or other pyschiatric facility, or
        regaining fitness to proceed.

SB 2429    RELATING TO CRIME                             JDC, WAM
        Establishes enhanced criminal penalties for hate
        crimes against persons because of race, color,
        religion, ancestry, national origin, gender,
        transgender, sexual orientation, age or disability;
        provides a reporting mechanism to compile, track, and
        analyze hate crimes data.

SB 2427    MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR COMPENSATION OF   JDC, WAM
        CRIME VICTIMS
        Makes an appropriation for crime victims.

SB 2426    RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION         JDC, WAM

 
 
        Authorizes payment of compensation for mental health
        counseling, in the case of mass casualty, for deceased
        victim's relative, witness, or individual engaged in
        business or educational activities at scene.

SB 2533    RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION         JDC, WAM
        Requires, as condition of DAG or DANC plea, payment of
        compensation fee to be deposited into the crime victim
        compensation special fund.

SB 2933    RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION         JDC, WAM
        COMMISSION
        Provides that the Crime Victim Compensation Commission
        shall appoint an executive director and
        admininstrative assistant to carry out the work of the
        Crime Victim Compensation Commission.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies (1 sided) of
their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol,
24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if
less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms
Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor
islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
